Jeremiah 46 is a prophecy against Egypt, delivered after Pharaoh Neco's army was crushed by Babylon at Carchemish in 605 BC. In verse 12 the LORD speaks to Egypt, pictured as the "Virgin Daughter of Egypt" (verse 11), and announces that news of her defeat has spread everywhere.
