Jeremiah 7:10 meaning and explanation
and then come and stand before Me in this house, which bears My Name, and say, ‘We are delivered, so we can continue with all these abominations’?
Jeremiah 7:10, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jeremiah is speaking at the temple gate to the people of Judah, who have come to worship. In verse 10 he pictures them moving straight from theft, murder, adultery, perjury and Baal worship into God's house, claiming "We are delivered." They treat the temple, the house that bears God's Name, as a guarantee of safety, as if the ritual of standing there cancels the moral debt of the week.
