Jeremiah 7:30 meaning and explanation
For the people of Judah have done evil in My sight, declares the LORD. They have set up their abominations in the house that bears My Name, and so have defiled it.
Jeremiah 7:30, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The LORD speaks through Jeremiah at the temple gate in Jerusalem, addressing the people of Judah who trust in the building itself rather than in obedience. The house that bears God's Name is the temple, and the abominations are the idols they placed inside it, a defilement the prophet goes on to describe in the next verse.
