Job 36:15 meaning and explanation

God rescues the afflicted by their affliction and opens their ears in oppression.

Job 36:15, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Elihu, a younger bystander, is answering Job's complaint that God seems silent and unfair. In verses 8 to 14 he has described suffering as God's way of getting a person's attention, and verse 15 states the principle plainly: God uses affliction itself as the means of rescue, opening ears that comfort had closed.
