Job 5:4 meaning and explanation
His sons are far from safety, crushed in court without a defender.
Job 5:4, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Eliphaz is speaking to Job, defending his claim that suffering comes to the wicked. In verse 3 he describes a fool who seemed secure, and here he pictures that man's children ruined: his sons are denied safety and crushed at the city gate, where legal cases were heard, with no one to plead their cause.
