Job 8:13 meaning and explanation
Such is the destiny of all who forget God; so the hope of the godless will perish.
Job 8:13, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Bildad the Shuhite is answering Job in the first cycle of speeches, and he has just compared the godless to papyrus reeds that dry up quickly when the marsh fails. Verse 13 states the point of that image: those who forget God have a destiny like the withered reed, and the hope of the godless, the Hebrew chaneph, meaning profane or irreligious, will come to nothing.
