These Greeks were Gentiles who had come up to Jerusalem to worship at the Passover feast, perhaps converts or sympathizers attached to the synagogue. Their arrival marks a turning point in John's Gospel, since until now Jesus' ministry had been largely among Jews, and now outsiders are seeking him.
