At the Last Supper Jesus has just dipped a morsel and handed it to Judas, identifying him as the betrayer, and told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” The other disciples at the table hear the words but cannot read them. John notes that Judas kept the money bag, so some assumed Jesus was sending him to buy what was needed for the feast or to give something to the poor.
