John 15:2 meaning and explanation
He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes to make it even more fruitful.
John 15:2, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus is speaking to his disciples on the night before his death, using a vineyard image familiar from Israel's Scriptures, where Israel is often pictured as God's vine. The Father tends the vine: he removes the branch that bears no fruit and prunes the fruitful one so it yields more.
