John 20:29 meaning and explanation

Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

John 20:29, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Thomas has just refused to believe unless he sees the nail marks and touches Jesus' side. Jesus appears in the locked room and offers exactly that, and Thomas responds, "My Lord and my God!" Rather than rebuking him, Jesus pronounces a blessing on those who believe without seeing.
