Joshua 13:23 meaning and explanation

And the border of the Reubenites was the bank of the Jordan. This was the inheritance of the clans of the Reubenites, including the cities and villages.

Joshua 13:23, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The LORD had told Joshua to divide the land among the tribes, and this verse closes the description of what Moses had already assigned to Reuben east of the Jordan. The boundary is simply the bank of the river, so the tribe's inheritance ran from the plateau down to the water's edge.
