Joshua 5:9 meaning and explanation
Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” So that place has been called Gilgal to this day.
Joshua 5:9, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The LORD speaks to Joshua at the camp in Gilgal, just after the generation born in the wilderness has been circumcised. The reproach of Egypt likely means the shame of slavery and of the generation that died in unbelief, and perhaps the taunt that Egypt's gods had failed.
