And there in the presence of the Israelites, Joshua inscribed on the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he had written.

After Israel's victory at Ai, Joshua leads the people to Mount Ebal, where he builds an altar of uncut stones as Moses commanded and offers sacrifices. In this verse he copies the law of Moses onto the stones in full view of the people.
