Judges 14:10 meaning and explanation

Judges 14:10, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Samson has come to Timnah to marry a Philistine woman, over his parents' objections, and the narrator has already told us that this was from the LORD, who was seeking an occasion against the Philistines (verse 4). In this culture a wedding began with a feast hosted by the groom, and the Hebrew word here for feast, mishteh, comes from the root for drinking.
