Judges 15:16 meaning and explanation

Then Samson said: “With the jawbone of a donkey I have piled them into heaps. With the jawbone of a donkey I have slain a thousand men.”

Judges 15:16, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Samson speaks this taunt right after the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon him and he struck down a thousand Philistines with the fresh jawbone of a donkey (verses 14 and 15). Standing over the dead, he turns the fight into a victory song, repeating “with the jawbone of a donkey” like a refrain.
