Judges 19:20 meaning and explanation
“Peace to you,” said the old man. “Let me supply everything you need. Only do not spend the night in the square.”
Judges 19:20, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The old man from the hill country of Ephraim, himself a resident outsider in Gibeah, greets the traveling Levite with "Peace to you," a conventional Hebrew greeting (shalom) that here carries real weight. He then promises to supply everything the travelers need and insists they not spend the night in the city square.
