Judges 3:25 meaning and explanation

So they waited until they became worried and saw that he had still not opened the doors of the upper room. Then they took the key and opened the doors—and there was their lord lying dead on the floor.

Judges 3:25, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Eglon's servants wait outside the locked upper room, assuming their king is relieving himself in the cool chamber, a reasonable guess in that setting. When their worry grows and he still does not open the doors, they unlock them and find him dead on the floor.
