Judges 7:4 meaning and explanation
Then the LORD said to Gideon, “There are still too many people. Take them down to the water, and I will sift them for you there. If I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ he shall go. But if I say, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not go.”
Judges 7:4, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The LORD has already thinned Gideon's army from thirty-two thousand to ten thousand, yet He tells Gideon the force is still too many. Israel is camped near the spring of Harod, facing Midian in the valley, and God is deliberately reducing the numbers so no one can claim the victory was won by human strength.
