Leviticus 2:12 meaning and explanation
You may bring them to the LORD as an offering of firstfruits, but they are not to be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma.
Leviticus 2:12, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
In context, God is instructing Israel through Moses about the grain offering, the minchah, a gift of fine flour, oil and frankincense brought to the priests at the tabernacle. Verse 11 forbids burning leaven or honey on the altar, and verse 12 makes a careful distinction: leaven and honey may be brought as firstfruits, a presentation of the harvest, but they must not go on the altar as a pleasing aroma.
