Leviticus 21:12 meaning and explanation
He must not leave or desecrate the sanctuary of his God, for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is on him. I am the LORD.
Leviticus 21:12, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The LORD is speaking to Moses about the high priest, the one man anointed with oil and set apart for the sanctuary. Verse 12 continues the rule from verse 11: unlike other priests, the high priest may not even mourn his own parents, because leaving the sanctuary to bury them would desecrate it.
