Leviticus 21:6 meaning and explanation
They must be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God. Because they present to the LORD the offerings made by fire, the food of their God, they must be holy.
Leviticus 21:6, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The LORD is speaking to Moses for Aaron's sons, the priests, setting out why their conduct must differ from that of ordinary Israelites. Their holiness is not a personal achievement but a calling tied to their work: they present the offerings made by fire, called the food of their God, so the honor of God's name rests on how they live.
