Leviticus 25:29 meaning and explanation

If a man sells a house in a walled city, he retains his right of redemption until a full year after its sale; during that year it may be redeemed.

Leviticus 25:29, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

These instructions come from God through Moses to Israel at Sinai, as part of the Jubilee laws. Land outside walled cities returned to its original family in the Jubilee, but a house inside a walled city was treated differently: the seller had a full year to buy it back, and after that the sale became permanent.
