Leviticus 25:35 meaning and explanation
Now if your countryman becomes destitute and cannot support himself among you, then you are to help him as you would a foreigner or stranger, so that he can continue to live among you.
Leviticus 25:35, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
God gives these instructions to Moses on Sinai for the Israelites as they prepare to enter the land. The Hebrew word for countryman is ach, meaning brother, so the command concerns a fellow Israelite who has fallen into poverty and can no longer provide for himself.
