Leviticus 27:26 meaning and explanation
But no one may consecrate a firstborn of the livestock, because a firstborn belongs to the LORD. Whether it is an ox or a sheep, it is the LORD’s.
Leviticus 27:26, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
This verse closes a section on vows, spoken by God to Moses for the Israelites at Sinai. A person could promise an animal to the LORD, but the firstborn of ox or sheep already belonged to God, so it could not be vowed or redeemed as if it were the worshipper's own gift.
