Luke 1:18 meaning and explanation
“How can I be sure of this?” Zechariah asked the angel. “I am an old man, and my wife is well along in years.”
Luke 1:18, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Zechariah is an elderly priest serving in the temple, and the angel Gabriel has just announced that he and Elizabeth will have a son. His question sounds like a request for a sign, but it echoes the doubt of Abraham and Sarah, who laughed at a similar promise in their old age.
