If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? After all, you say that I drive out demons by Beelzebul.

Jesus is answering accusers who said His power to cast out a mute demon came from Beelzebul, the prince of demons. He points out the absurdity of their charge: if Satan were casting out Satan, his own kingdom would be split and could not stand.
