Jesus is dining at a Pharisee's house and has just pronounced three woes on the Pharisees, ending with the image of unmarked graves that defile those who walk over them. An expert in the law, a trained interpreter of the Torah, hears the rebuke land on his own group and says so respectfully, calling Jesus Teacher.
