Luke 11:51 meaning and explanation
from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, all of it will be charged to this generation.
Luke 11:51, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus is speaking to the crowds and to the experts in the law who have just challenged Him. Abel, murdered by his brother in Genesis 4, and Zechariah, stoned in the temple courtyard in 2 Chronicles 24, stand first and last in the Hebrew ordering of the prophets, so the phrase means the whole span of innocent blood.
