Luke 12:33 meaning and explanation

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide yourselves with purses that will not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

Luke 12:33, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Jesus is speaking to His disciples, continuing His teaching against worry and His call to seek the kingdom (verses 29 to 31). Selling possessions and giving to the poor is the practical shape of trusting the Father instead of storing up treasure for oneself, the mistake of the rich fool earlier in the chapter.
