When he returned from procuring his kingship, he summoned the servants to whom he had given the money, to find out what each one had earned.

Jesus tells this parable (Luke 19:11-27) on the road near Jericho, just before entering Jerusalem. The crowd expects God's kingdom to appear at once, so Jesus pictures a nobleman who travels to a distant country to receive royal authority and then returns.
