After the Passover festival in Jerusalem, Joseph and Mary set out for home with their travelling group, assuming twelve year old Jesus was among relatives and friends. Luke tells us they travelled a full day before they began looking for him, so this return to Jerusalem is a moment of real anxiety, as the family retraces the road they had just walked.
