Luke 20:37 meaning and explanation

Even Moses demonstrates that the dead are raised, in the passage about the burning bush. For he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’

Luke 20:37, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Jesus is answering the Sadducees, a temple party that denied the resurrection. They have posed a trick question about a widow married to seven brothers, and Jesus turns to Exodus 3, the burning bush, where God speaks to Moses and names himself the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
