Luke 21:34 meaning and explanation
But watch yourselves, or your hearts will be weighed down by dissipation, drunkenness, and the worries of life—and that day will spring upon you suddenly like a snare.
Luke 21:34, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus is speaking to his disciples on the Mount of Olives, near the end of his public teaching, after warning them about the destruction of the temple and his own future coming. The Greek word for dissipation suggests the dulling effect of excess, and the image of a snare is a trap closing without warning.
