Luke 22:71 meaning and explanation

“Why do we need any more testimony?” they declared. “We have heard it for ourselves from His own lips.”

Luke 22:71, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

These are the closing words of the Sanhedrin's night trial of Jesus, spoken by the chief priests and scribes after Jesus answered their question about whether He is the Son of God. In Luke's account the council has heard Jesus identify Himself as the Son of Man seated at God's right hand and has taken His reply as a claim to divinity.
