Luke 4:39 meaning and explanation
and He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she got up at once and began to serve them.
Luke 4:39, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus has just left the synagogue in Capernaum, where he cast out a demon, and now he enters Simon Peter's house, where Simon's mother-in-law lies ill with a high fever. Luke, a careful storyteller, notes that Jesus stood over her and rebuked the fever, the same word he used for silencing the demon, so illness is pictured as a power under Christ's authority.
