Luke 5:21 meaning and explanation
But the scribes and Pharisees began thinking to themselves, “Who is this man who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
Luke 5:21, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The scribes and Pharisees are the trained interpreters of Israel's law, seated in the house where Jesus is teaching. They hear Him tell the paralyzed man that his sins are forgiven and reason silently that this is blasphemy, since Scripture reserves the forgiving of sins to God alone.
