Luke 6:35 meaning and explanation

But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

Luke 6:35, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Jesus is still speaking to his disciples and the wider crowd on the level place, continuing the teaching on love of enemies that began in verses 27 to 30. Here he moves beyond ordinary generosity: lending without expecting repayment goes further than even sinners manage.
