Luke 9:22 meaning and explanation
“The Son of Man must suffer many things,” He said. “He must be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”
Luke 9:22, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Just after Peter confesses Jesus as the Christ, Jesus corrects any expectation of an earthly conqueror. Speaking to His disciples, He calls Himself the Son of Man, a title drawn from Daniel's vision, and says the Messiah must suffer, be rejected by the elders, chief priests and scribes, be killed, and on the third day be raised.
