You will see this with your own eyes, and you yourselves will say, ‘The LORD is great—even beyond the borders of Israel.’”

The LORD is answering Israel's doubt about whether he has loved them (verse 2). He points to Jacob and Esau, and to Edom's ruined mountains: though Edom boasts it will rebuild, God says he will tear it down (verses 3 and 4).
