The man has knelt before Jesus, begging to be made clean, and Jesus has answered, "I am willing." Mark's word "immediately" is one of his favorite markers, driving the story forward at speed. The healing is complete and instant: the Greek word for leprosy covered various skin conditions, and the man is cleansed, a term that also carries ritual meaning, since he could now rejoin the community and worship.
