Mark 12:31 meaning and explanation
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”
Mark 12:31, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
A scribe asked Jesus which commandment was greatest, and Jesus answered by pairing love of God with love of neighbor. The second command comes from Leviticus 19:18, where Israel is told to love "your neighbor as yourself." The Greek word for neighbor, plesion, means the one near you.
