Mark 13:17 meaning and explanation
How miserable those days will be for pregnant and nursing mothers!
Mark 13:17, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus speaks these words on the Mount of Olives to Peter, James, John and Andrew, describing the coming siege of Jerusalem and the tribulation that will follow. Pregnant and nursing mothers are named because flight from danger would be hardest for them; the Greek word for miserable, ouai, is a cry of grief rather than a curse.
