Mark 14:7 meaning and explanation
The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them whenever you want. But you will not always have Me.
Mark 14:7, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus speaks these words in Bethany, at the table of Simon the Leper, after a woman anoints his head with costly perfume and others object that it could have been sold for the poor. Jesus is not dismissing care for the needy; he quotes the ongoing presence of the poor from Deuteronomy 15:11, where generosity to them is commanded.
