Mark 15:1, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

After an overnight hearing, the full Sanhedrin, the ruling council of chief priests, elders and scribes, reached its decision at daybreak and bound Jesus. Because the council could not carry out a death sentence under Roman rule, they handed him over to Pilate, the Roman governor, whose residence in Jerusalem was likely near the temple.
