Mark 15:27 meaning and explanation

Along with Jesus, they crucified two robbers, one on His right and one on His left.

Mark 15:27, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Mark has just described the crucifixion and the charge nailed above Jesus, "THE KING OF THE JEWS." Now he notes two robbers crucified alongside him, one on each side. The Greek word is lestes, meaning bandit or insurrectionist rather than a simple thief, so these were men associated with violent rebellion.
