Since they were unable to get to Jesus through the crowd, they uncovered the roof above Him, made an opening, and lowered the paralytic on his mat.

Jesus is back in Capernaum, teaching in a house so crowded that no one can get near the door. Four men carrying a paralyzed friend cannot reach Him, so they dig through the roof above Jesus and lower the man on his mat.
