Mark 3:22 meaning and explanation
And the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and, “By the prince of the demons He drives out demons.”
Mark 3:22, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The scribes were Jerusalem authorities who came to assess Jesus, and they explain His power by accusing Him of being possessed by Beelzebul, a name used in the Gospels for the prince of demons. In that setting, healing and casting out demons were undeniable, so the charge attacks the source of the power rather than the deeds.
