When they arrived at the house of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw the commotion and the people weeping and wailing loudly.

Jesus has just crossed back over the sea and been met by Jairus, a synagogue leader whose young daughter is dying. Messengers interrupt them with news that she has already died, but Jesus tells Jairus not to be afraid and continues to the house with only Peter, James and John.
