Mark 9:23 meaning and explanation
“If You can?” echoed Jesus. “All things are possible to him who believes!”
Mark 9:23, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
A desperate father has just said to Jesus, “if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus picks up the man’s conditional words and turns them back: the question is not whether God is able but whether the father trusts. The Greek verb pisteuō means to believe or to have faith, and Jesus locates the possibility not in the amount of power available but in the one who believes.
