Mark 9:35 meaning and explanation
Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the last of all and the servant of all.”

Jesus is in a house in Capernaum, and the Twelve have just been silent because they were arguing on the road about which of them was greatest. A rabbi sat to teach, so Jesus takes that posture and reverses their ambition: greatness means being last and servant of all.
